Snapan
for Symphonic Band
by Amparo Edo Biol
Composition for Symphonic Band inspired by one of the most popular phenomena of this decade and future ones: Snapchat. Snap is something that occurs unexpectedly or without anticipation. Besides the social platform, snap has almost become a lifestyle: all information is available imminently, we connect to long-distance videoconferences immediately and spontaneity leads our lives. However, we often think too much about our pose to achieve the perfect picture that the impulsive experience becomes analyzed, organized and structure, giving the meaning of spontaneity a 360 turn. With this composition, I propose a reflection about the sonic result of the spontaneous and energetic spirit, based on an efimer snap, constructed over organized musical elements (dodecaphonism) and using organizes and structured compositional techniques.
